CORVID-19 Hill-walking is great exercise and it is good to get out in the outside world and it is inherently safer and healthier than staying indoors. But we still lneed to take precautions whilst outside. Please do not go out walking if you are showing sisns of Corvid-19. When out walking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then walk away and try somewhere else. If you get into difficulty the MRT will come out to help you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus. Take Care Out There.

This is the far north of the Peak district, it runs out here. Much of this route is on the Pennine Way but a more rugged Pennine Way than at the start in Edale. Here the Moors are real moors, less frequented, bleak when the mist is down and a great place to get away from it all on a sunny day.
First the route goes over Wessenden Moor. From the car park follow the boundary line / footpath in a northerly direction to Black Moss reservoir. This goes over Featherbed Moss, White Moss and descends towards the reservoir. As the names indicate that this can be a boggy area. From the reservoir go east and meet the Pennine Way. This is now a better path. Follow this down Blackley Clough. Once over the river follow the Pennine Way alongside Wessenden Reservoir, and onto Wessenden Head Reservoir and the A635 at Wessenden Head. Cross the road with care. (7.0kms. 220m. 2hrs. 30min.)
Now the climb up to Black Hill via the Pennine Way which is a good path, much improved. Just follow the Pennine Way in the southerly direction to reach the summit of Black Hill; Soldiers Lump trig point. There are 4 good paths leaving the trig point. Take the path that goes north west, directly back to the car park. (6.0kms. 100m. 2hrs. 0min.)
