CORVID-19 Hill-walking is great exercise and it is good to get out in the outside world and it is inherently safer and healthier than staying indoors. But we still lneed to take precautions whilst outside. Please do not go out walking if you are showing sisns of Corvid-19. When out walking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then walk away and try somewhere else. If you get into difficulty the MRT will come out to help you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus. Take Care Out There.

The Woodhead Pass follows Longdendale as it leaves Glossop on the way over the Peak District. Initially the valley follows a series of five reservoirs of which Torside is the largest. One the south of this valley are a series of rough gritstone edges. This route takes the walker along these edges, which mark the northern edge of Bleaklow, and back along the Longdendale Valley.

Walk out of the back of the car park, to meet the Trans Pennine Trail, the old Woodhead railway line. Once the road is met, turn west and follow the Pennine Way up towards Bleaklow Head. This route does not go that far. Once the Pennine Way reaches Torside Clough, aim to cross the stream. From here the route goes roughly north overthe Longendale Edges.(3.0kms. 250m. 1hrs. 30min.)

The route over the Longdendale Edges is rough with no paths marked, although there are a variety on the ground. Essentially contour around the edge at the 450m contour line initially onto Torside Maze and White Mare before reaching the wall up Wildboar Clough. Follow the wall line up the Clough until it is possible to cross the stream. Then again follow the 450m contour line around to Lawrence Edge, Deer Knowle and Dowstone Rocks. Soon the track up Stable Clough is reached. Follow this track down Stable Clough to The Lodge and then around to meet the Trans Pennine Tarail again. Follow this back to the car Park. (8.0kms. 100m. 2hrs. 30min.)
