CORVID-19 Hill-walking is great exercise and it is good to get out in the outside world and it is inherently safer and healthier than staying indoors. But we still lneed to take precautions whilst outside. Please do not go out walking if you are showing sisns of Corvid-19. When out walking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then walk away and try somewhere else. If you get into difficulty the MRT will come out to help you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus. Take Care Out There.

Edale Skyline has been a walking challenge for many over the years. There is no definitive route other than going around the Edale Valley. This walks takes the maximum route, all the way around the Edale Valley and not going to Edale itself. It takes in all the well known features in the area. Although a long walk and a challenge, pick a good day for weather and it is a great experience. The views over much of the northern part of the Peak District are worth the effort.

Leave Hope on the minor road to Edale and shortly take the bridge under the railway. the footpath to Win hill is well marked first as a track to twitchill Farm and then as a path. Once the height has been climbed the path goes east to reach Win Hill trig point and summit. (2.0kms. 300m. 1hrs. 20min.)

The route takes the path along the ridge. The forest on the right. and extensive views down the valley on the left. The path is good, albeit quite eroded but soon Hope Cross is reached. From here continue to crookstone Barn, climb Crookstone Hill to reach Kinder at Crookstone Knoll. (5.0kms. 140m. 1hrs. 50min.)

Crookstone Knoll is on the south edge of Kinder. This section is to walk along the southern edge of Kinder. There is a path all the way. This first section is much less busy than the western part. Follow the path around Kinder, passing Ringing Rodger, Nether Tor, the top of grindsbrook and onto Crowden Tower. Around past Pym's Chair, the south of Kinder Low and onto the top of Jacobs ladder. This section has many rock formations which are all worth noting. from here take the path south to Brown Knoll. This is different terrain, back to moorland. (9.0kms. 80m. 2hrs. 50min.)

Now we start the southern part of this walkaround the south of the Edale Valley. The geology changes here, Rather than the rocks formations of Kinder the route continues into areas of shale, Mam Tor and Back Tor being notable examples. Follow the path from Brown Knoll around to Rushop Edge and then continue to Mam Nic, the minor road pass. Climb from here to Mam tor, one of the most popular spots in the peak District and indeed the Uk countryside. Continue onto Hollins Cross and climb again to Back Tor and lose Hill. This is the final climb and the descent is now to Hope. follwo the footpaths down Lose hill until the minor road is met and then follow the road to the village and car park. Lose Hill (11.0kms. 80m. 3hrs. 20min.)
