Ben Hope is the most northerly of the munros, lying near to the north coast of Scotland. This is a singleton, an isolated munro, sitting proud from it's surroundings. Because of this there is a fantastic view from the summit, firstly north over the sea to Orkney and secondy over the environemt with the full view of the peaks of this area.

Ben Hope is a Munro and hence there is a good path up the hill. This route follows the path. From the car park there is a definite path that goes up the hillside. After a short flatish introduction the path rises steeply up the west flank of Ben Hope. Care must be taken to avoid the crags. Eventually the southern slopes of Ben Hope are reached and the route follows these slopes north to reach the summit. Whilst ascending these southern slopes make sure you do not stray over to the west where there are some significant crags. These mark the edge of the southern slopes. The summt is marked with a trig point. From here you can see the slopes falling away steeply on all sides other than that you just climbed. As this is an isolated high point there is a great view over much of this northern part of Scotland. (3kms. 910m. 2hrs. 50min.)

There is no real alternative but to descend by the same route. Actually this descent gives a fantastic view south over much of the Nor-West of scotland. Once down the southern slopes, reach the stream and from here follow the path down west back down to the car park. Overall a short route but with fantastic views. (3kms. 0m. 1hrs. 0min.)
