The Peak District is a magical place. It is an area of tranquility in the centre of England and within such a short travel time from the major cities of the north. This rightly makes the area popular for visitors on any sunny summer weekend. However come to see the area in autumn when the trees are changing; in winter when the tops are white and not black; in spring when the grasses and flowers are budding; and you can find solitude here.
One of the unique features of the Peak District are the Gritstone Edges that run along the eastern boundary of the area, from Chatsworth in the south to Stanage and beyond in the north. There is nowhere like this in the rest of the UK. The highlight of these Gritstone Edges is Stanage Edge which runs for 8kms from above Hathersage to the Strines on the A57. The magnificent sweep of the edge when viewed from Hathersage is one of the most iconic views of the Peak District, indeed the UK. Many visitors are attracted here, to climb the rough and steep rocks, to bike through the moorland terrain or to walk through this great countryside.
